How to Get More Google Reviews for Your Local Business

By Business Review Hub · Updated October 12, 2026

Getting more Google reviews starts with a repeatable process: ask customers for honest feedback after a real experience, give them a direct review link, and respond thoughtfully. A clear request is more useful than asking customers to search for your business and work out where to leave a review.

1. Find your Google review link

Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile. Open the profile, choose Read reviews, then Get more reviews. Copy the review link or download the QR code. Google explains the current steps in its guide to getting more reviews.

Test the link on your phone before sending it. Confirm that it opens the correct business, especially if you manage multiple locations. Use the matching location link on receipts, signage and messages.

2. Ask after the customer has experienced your service

Choose a natural point such as a completed appointment, collected order or finished job. Keep the request brief and explain that honest feedback helps other customers make a decision. Use a consistent approach for customers rather than inviting only those you expect to leave a positive review.

Do not offer discounts, gifts or other incentives for reviews. Do not ask for a particular star rating. Google's guidance requires genuine experiences and prohibits incentives in exchange for reviews.

3. Use a short email or SMS request

Personalize these examples with your business name and direct review link. Send messages only through channels customers have agreed to use.

Email example

Subject: How was your visit to [Business Name]?
Thank you for choosing [Business Name]. Would you share an honest review of your experience? Your feedback helps us improve and helps others decide whether we are a good fit. Leave a Google review: [Review Link]. Thank you for your time.

Text message example

Thanks for visiting [Business Name]. Would you share your experience in a Google review? Here is the link: [Review Link]. We appreciate your honest feedback.

Avoid repeated reminders. Keep a record of requests so staff do not contact the same customer several times for one visit.

4. Put a review QR code where it is useful

A QR code at checkout, on a receipt or on a service completion card gives customers a quick route to the review form. Add a simple label such as "Share your experience on Google." Test printed codes at their final size, and keep the destination specific to the location the customer visited.

5. Respond to positive and negative reviews

Thank customers for specific feedback. For a negative review, acknowledge the concern, avoid publishing private customer information, and offer a direct way to discuss the issue. AI can help draft a reply, but check names, facts and tone before publishing a sensitive response.

Business Review Hub's AI review response tools help turn feedback into responses and other content. Choose the level of automation that fits your workflow.

6. Measure the process, not just the star rating

Each month, review how many requests you sent, how many new reviews arrived, and how often your team responded. Compare locations separately. Use trends to identify missed requests or recurring service concerns rather than assuming every new review came from a particular campaign.

Review requests, QR codes and monitoring can become easier to manage with dedicated software. Compare Business Review Hub plans for review widgets, automated requests and AI features, or visit the help center.

Can more Google reviews guarantee higher rankings?

No. Reviews are one part of a broader local presence, and no review count guarantees a position in search. Keep your business information accurate, maintain useful website content, and use Google Search Console and Business Profile performance data to understand what changes over time.
